The Suzuki DR-Z400 is a dual-sport motorcycle that Suzuki has manufactured since 2000, powered by a single-cylinder, 398 cc, carbureted, liquid-cooled four-stroke engine. It has been produced in four variants: the DR-Z400 with kick-start only, not street legal in the United States; the DR-Z400E with electric start; the street-legal DR-Z400S with headlight, taillight, turn signals, mirrors and electric start; and the DR-Z400SM supermoto, first sold in 2005, with 17-inch sportbike-inspired wheels, oversize brakes, an RM-Z rear swingarm and inverted forks. Kawasaki marketed a private-labelled version as the KLX400, nearly identical apart from bodywork and some accessories, and the Australian Army uses a slightly modified DR-Z for its role.
