The Honda XR100R is a four-stroke off-road motorcycle introduced in 1985, four years after the XR100, and it has been popular with learning riders. It changed little over a two-decade production run. Built to handle both racing and harsh terrain, it has a 99 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with a 9.4:1 compression ratio, a bore and stroke of 2.1 by 1.8 inches and about 10 hp, giving a friendly power curve with plenty of torque for a beginner or smaller rider. The most notable difference from the XR100 is the single coil-over Pro-Link swingarm in place of twin shocks, the tank moved from metal to plastic, and the bike debuted in orange. With its high-revving motor it became a favourite for swaps into two-stroke minibikes and has a cult following with clubs such as SoCal XRs.
