The Honda XLV750R is a dual-sport motorcycle that Honda made in Japan from 1983 to 1986, first shown as a prototype at the Paris Motor Show in October 1982. It was intended at first for Europe except the UK and from 1985 was also sold in Australia and New Zealand, and 500 Limited Edition models with a golden badge, a perforated front disc and a blue seat strap were made for the Japanese home market in the first production run of 1983. Honda meant it as a tourer with limited off-road ability, yet showed it to the press on a motocross track on Ibiza in spring 1983, where several journalists crashed the 220 kilogram bike. Coded RD01, it was Honda's first dual-sport with two non-parallel cylinders, an air- and oil-cooled V-twin.
