Honda XLR

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Honda XLR 125 R (type JD 16) was an enduro motorcycle from the Japanese maker Honda. Its air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine, with a 56.5 mm bore, 49.5 mm stroke and compression ratio of 9.2 to 1, was always the same in the two versions offered in Germany: the open version JD16A with a stated top speed of 94 km/h and an electronically limited version JD16B with a maximum of 80 km/h. At 11.4 PS from 124 cm3 it had rather little power compared with other enduros, but it was economical, with 2.7 litres per 100 km possible. Both versions had wire-spoke wheels with aluminium rims, a telescopic fork with 225 mm of travel and a steel swingarm with a Pro-Link system and 231 mm of travel, capacitor discharge ignition and a 9 litre tank with 4.3 litres of reserve. Ground clearance was 295 mm. Some riders disliked the original look, especially the rear, and the lighting was often upgraded.
