Honda XL 125 series

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Honda XL 125 series is a series of light off-road motorcycles that Honda produced from 1974 to 1985. The series includes the Honda XL 125, the Honda XL 125 S, the Honda XL 125 R and the limited Honda XL 125 R Paris Dakar. For years Honda had supplied, next to most touring models, motorcycles for light to heavy terrain work: the scramblers, lightly adapted touring models for unpaved roads, were labelled CL, and the off-roaders for heavier terrain were labelled SL. From 1972 Honda started producing single-cylinder off-road motorcycles at a high pace under the XL designation. For the heavier models, such as the Honda XL 250, a special engine had to be developed, but for the light models such as the XL 100 and XL 125 the existing single-cylinder engines could be used.
