The Honda SL70 Motosport, introduced in 1970, is a small street and trail motorcycle with a four-stroke engine, a four-speed manual gearbox and a full-cradle frame. It was extremely popular with younger riders who used it off-road as a trail bike and mini motocrosser, a role in which it was essentially replaced by the XR75 in 1973. The specification was a 72 cc air-cooled single-overhead-cam engine with two valves, 6.5 PS at 9,500 rpm, a 6 volt electrical system and breaker-point ignition. It was designated the SL70K0 in 1970, K1 in 1971, K2 in 1972 and K3 in 1973, with no change except paint colours and the addition of a speedometer, and in 1974 it became the XL70 with a slimmer gas tank. Most production went to the American market and it was not officially sold in the UK.
