Honda FMX 650

The Honda FMX 650 is a supermoto motorcycle that Honda built from 2005 to 2007 at its Spanish plant in Montesa under the model code RD 12. Its engine is an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke unit of the RFVC type that had already been used in the Honda NX 650 Dominator. In the FMX 650 the engine, with four radially arranged valves and a catalytic converter, has a displacement of 644 cc and a rated output of 28 kW (38 PS) at 5,750 rpm, with a maximum torque of 52 Nm reached at 4,500 rpm. An unregulated catalytic converter meets the Euro 2 emission standard, but only with a loss of power, so the 44 PS that the engine delivered in the 1988 Dominator are no longer reached. With an electric starter and a five-speed gearbox it picks up at low to medium revs, and fuel consumption lies between 4 and 8 litres per 100 kilometres depending on riding style.
