The Honda CL77, also sold as the Scrambler 305, is the off-road version of the Honda C77 Dream and the CB77 Super Hawk of the 1960s. Honda designated its scramblers CL to set them apart from the CB sport bikes. To gain ground clearance it had upswept exhaust pipes along the left side, a bigger tube frame with a front downtube that took the place of the electric starter, a small painted fuel tank, fork boots, 19-inch wheels with coarse universal tyres, a taller cross-braced handlebar and shortened fenders. Its 305 cc overhead cam parallel twin revved to 9,000 rpm, a sharp contrast to low-revving European and American bikes, and its straight pipes gave a loud and distinctive sound.
