The BMW F 800 GS is an off-road capable travel enduro motorcycle from the German maker BMW, built at the BMW plant in Berlin Spandau from 2008 to 2018 on the F series. It was first shown to the public on 6 November 2007 at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan and went on sale in March 2008. It sits below the boxer powered R 1200 GS and is largely identical in construction to the F 650 GS, which shares its parallel twin engine built by Rotax. The model name GS means Gelaende and Strasse, terrain and road, the internal designation is E8 GS and the factory code K72. The bike has a steel tube frame with the engine as a stressed member, a 45 millimetre upside down fork with 230 millimetres of travel, and wire spoke wheels of 21 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear. About 165,000 were built before the F 750 GS and F 850 GS replaced it in 2018. Rider Magazine named it motorcycle of the year 2009.
