BMW F 650

The BMW F 650 is an off-road capable road enduro that BMW developed and produced together with the Austrian engine maker Rotax and the Italian motorcycle maker Aprilia, because demand for a smaller entry-level motorcycle had risen, with the Aprilia Pegaso as the Aprilia version of the same development line. It was first presented in 1993 and, with its spoked wheels and raised seat, is conceived as an all-rounder for the road and for light terrain. The F stands for Funduro, a blend of fun and enduro. It had a Rotax single-cylinder engine with a carburettor and chain drive, an uncontrolled catalytic converter was an accessory in 1993 and standard from 1995, and a centre stand became standard in 1996 together with a wider choice of colours. In all 50,990 F 650 were made, and the road-oriented F 650 ST was added from 1996.
