Honda Transalp

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

Honda has made the Transalp in Japan since 1987, a series of dual sport motorcycles that comprises the XL400V, XL600V, XL650V, XL700V and XL750. With the exception of the XL750, the Transalp series features a liquid-cooled, four-stroke 52 degree V-twin engine. The first prototype was built in 1985 as an off-road motorbike with a 500 cc engine, and further development brought an increase to 600 cc and more road-oriented features. Its weight increased over time from 175 kg for the first models to 218 kg for the latest version. This site lists a page for every model year in the span covered here, each focused on what changed in that year, grouped into 4 generations: the XL600V (1987 to 1999 model years); the XL650V (2000 to 2006 model years); the XL700V (2007 to 2012 model years); the XL750 (2023 model year onward). Each year page links to its generation, to this model page, to the previous model year and to Honda.
