The Honda ZB50 is a 50 cc motorcycle that Honda produced as part of its Z series family of minibikes. It is very similar to the Monkey-R and Monkey-RT, which were marketed only in Japan in 1987 and 1988, and the ZB50 itself was available in 1988 in the United States, Canada and western Europe. Only 3,058 were produced for the American market because the bike proved too expensive to mass-produce. It was offered as a street and trail alternative to the Z50R, which was aimed more at dirt-track riders, and it is characterised by a perimeter twin-spar frame that gives it the look of a miniature sportbike. It is street legal, with a four-stroke 49 cc overhead cam engine, a roller bearing camshaft, an automatic cam chain tensioner, 12 volt electrics, solid-state electronic CDI ignition and a three-speed constant mesh transmission.
