The Honda Z50M was the first of the Z50 series of minibikes produced by Honda. It was first made in late 1966 and released for sale in 1967 to the European, Australian and Canadian markets. It was fully equipped with a headlight, taillight, rear brake light, horn and mirror, so it could be registered for road use in most countries; in Japan most were used on the road, while elsewhere many were used by children for off-road fun and suffered damaged frames. Today these are among the least common Z50s still running. There were three basic sub-models: the General Export with a small headlight and low exhaust supplied to Australia, the UK and Canada, the Japanese domestic model with a small headlight and a high lunch-box exhaust, and the French model with a larger 5-inch headlight and yellow bulb. Last production was 1969, though they were still sold in Australia into 1970.
