The Honda Z50A is a small motorcycle with a 49 cc single-cylinder four-stroke overhead cam engine and a semi-automatic transmission, made by Honda from 1968 to 1978 as the second generation of the Z50 series of minibikes. The 1968 to 1971 bikes were known as the Hard Tail for lacking rear shock absorbers, with the 1968 called a K0, the 1969 to 1970 a K1 and the 1970 to 1971 K2s, and the 1968 High Bar or Slantguard was the first of the Z50 series released in America, with white grips, 8-inch wheels and two-tone paint. In 1969 the K1 added street-legal lighting, and in 1972, after frame cracking became a growing problem, rear suspension was added, creating the Soft Tail K3, which stayed on the American market until after 1978 when the Z50R replaced it. In Europe and Japan it was renamed the Z50J in 1973.
