The Honda CY50 is a moped produced by Honda that was sold from 1977 to 1983 in Germany as the successor to the Honda Dax. The unclad two-wheeler has an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine of 50 cc making 1.5 kW, and unlike the Dax, whose engine lies flat, the CY50's engine is mounted upright. A larger but much rarer model, the CY80, was also imported, and the road version CB50 and the enduro version XL50 used comparable engine technology. Honda advertised that it did not need a fuel-oil mixture, only regular gasoline, which kept the engines clean up to the exhaust, with the round, rich running and low consumption that are typical of four-stroke technology. For the German market's licensing rules the engine had a speed limiter.
