Honda introduced the Gyro UP in October 1985. It differs from the Gyro X in having one heavy-duty baggage platform fixed directly to the rear engine pod in place of the front and rear tie-down racks, which gives the look of a pick-up truck in scooter form, with a loading area covered in rubber mat and rated for 30 kg. The TG50 Gyro S, a lower, wider-track variant specifically for the US market, was sold only in black in 1985.
