Honda released the Elite 125 in 1984, its first modern four stroke scooter, known as the Spacy in Japan and Europe, and it reached the western market in the spring. It had a headlamp that retracts, a world first for a scooter, an LCD speedometer with a volt meter, fuel gauge and temperature gauge, a foot warmer that sent heat from the radiator to the rider's feet, and anti-dive front suspension. Linda Hamilton rode the Elite on screen in the 1984 film The Terminator.
