Honda introduced the Smart Dio (AF56 and AF57) in 2001 as the fourth Dio generation, a major switch from the earlier two stroke engines to a four stroke power unit of 49 cc developed to meet stricter emissions regulations. It kept a CVT and added electric starting, with some variants equipped with PGM-FI fuel injection. The AF62 followed in 2003 as a commuter-oriented model, and the AF63 Smart Dio Z4 was the final evolution of the AF-series, with fuel injection and liquid cooling. In 2001 Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India also launched its own Dio, the SCV100. Each model year has its own page.
