The CB900F had one generation, produced from 1979 through 1983, and on sale in the United States during 1981 and 1982. Honda had done well in European endurance racing with the RS1000 of the RCB series, and decided to base a new DOHC roadster on its endurance racer. In Europe it was first called Super Sport, like the 750, and later was named for the Bol d'Or endurance race, and it competed with bigger machines such as the Kawasaki Z1000, Suzuki GS1000 and Yamaha XS1100. Each model year has its own page.
