The CB750K1 appeared on 21 September 1970. The Honda America race team won the Daytona 200 in March 1970 with Dick Mann on a tall geared CR750, the racing version of the production CB750, and in June 1970 two official CB750s in the Isle of Man TT 750 cc Production Class finished eighth and ninth, their riders unhappy with the poor handling. The AMA also changed its rules from 1970 to a standard full 750 cc displacement for all racing engines.
