Honda responded in the summer of 1991 to demand for a return to the traditional standard style with the RC38 Nighthawk 750, marketed in North America and Japan. Japan received the model only as a limited run of 750 units in a single year, with its own name, the RC39 CB750 Nighthawk. The Nighthawk 750 took a budget-friendly, cruiser-adjacent approach, with a single front disc, a rear drum brake and an 18 inch front wheel. Hydraulic valves needing no maintenance were fitted to much later models from 1991.
