The BMW /6 series, the R60/6, R75/6, R90/6 and the sport model R90S, was a range of boxer twin motorcycles manufactured in Berlin, Germany, by BMW from 1974 to 1976, known as the slash six models. They departed from the earlier slash five bikes by raising the smallest displacement from 500 to 600 cc, adding a sport model, and fitting front disc brakes for the first time. The tank lost its chrome trim panels, with rubber knee pads added instead, and the gauge pod moved from the headlight housing to its own assembly. Like the /5, they had air-cooled four-stroke opposed-twin boxer engines with hemispherical combustion chambers, a one-piece tunnel crankcase and a duplex-chain camshaft below the crankshaft, with shaft final drive, telescopic front forks, a 12-volt alternator and standard tachometer and turn signals.
