Kawasaki Concours

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Kawasaki Concours, sold as the GTR1000 in some markets and as the ZG1000 in the United States, is a sport touring motorcycle that Kawasaki manufactured from 1986 to 2006. Its 997 cc liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine with a six-speed gearbox and shaft drive is based on the Ninja 900 and Ninja 1000R, with smaller 32 mm carburetors, milder cams, front and rear sub-frames, hard luggage and a full fairing for two-up cross-country touring. It reaches speeds over 190 km/h and carries 28 litres of fuel. Motorcyclist compared it with the BMW K100LT and judged it superior in almost every aspect at less than two-thirds of the price. The design was largely unchanged from 1986 to 1993, was updated in 1994 and then saw only minor changes until the larger Concours 14, also called the 1400GTR, replaced it in 2007.
