The Honda X4 is a 1,284 cc cruiser motorcycle that Honda produced for the 1997 through 2003 model years. Its powerful transverse-mounted, inline four-cylinder, water-cooled engine was later used in the 1998 through 2002 model years of the Honda CB1300, although the X4 version had different carburettors and was geared to give more low-end torque. The X4 is characterised by its low-slung profile, solid disc rear wheel, bulbous yet angular side panels and stubby, large-diameter chrome exhausts. In the 2000 model year a new X4 LD, for Low Down, was introduced, offering a slightly lower seat and frame, improved suspension with piggyback Showa rear shock absorbers, an unpainted engine block and lightweight latticework inner rotors on the front brakes.
