The BMW R1250RT is a fully faired touring motorcycle, the revised successor to the R1200RT, which it replaced in October 2018. Like every R-series model it is driven by a boxer twin and was built at the BMW plant in Berlin. It is the seventh generation of the RT line that began in 1978, after the R100RT, R100RT Classic, R1100RT, R1150RT and the two R1200RT generations, and the letters RT stand for Reisetourer, a touring machine with long range, a comfortable seat, good wind and weather protection and generous luggage space. The air and water cooled engine of 1,254 cubic centimetres makes 100 kilowatts and uses the ShiftCam variable valve timing; the manufacturer quotes a top speed of 228 kilometres per hour.
