The BMW R12 is a motorcycle manufactured by BMW Motorrad and offered as the cruiser motorcycle R12 and as the roadster R12 nineT. The name R12 had already been used by BMW for a 1930s model and was re-protected by the manufacturer in 2021 in Germany and in 2022 internationally. Both models were presented at the end of November 2023 as the successor to the R nineT introduced ten years earlier. Both have an air and oil-cooled four-valve two-cylinder engine of 1,170 cm3 with a balance shaft, a stroke of 73 mm and a compression ratio of 12.0:1, tuned differently: the R12 makes 70 kW at 6,500 rpm and 110 Nm at 6,000 rpm, the nineT 80 kW at 7,000 rpm and 115 Nm at 6,500 rpm, and either can be throttled to 35 kW. Like the R18, the R12 offers the driving modes Roll and Rock, and the nineT has Road, Rain and Dynamic.
