The BMW R1100RT is a touring motorcycle with a horizontally opposed twin-cylinder boxer engine, built from 1996 to 2001 at BMW's Berlin plant in Spandau alongside sister models of similar design, the R1100R, R1100GS and R1100RS. Released in 1996 as the successor to the R100RT, it had extensive changes to the full fairing and a much stronger engine, with power raised from 44 to 66 kW (60 to 90 hp) and capacity from 971 to 1,085 cc. Top speed is 211 km/h and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Anti-lock brakes and a regulated three-way catalytic converter were standard, the chassis was built in three parts, and suspension used a Telelever front and a Paralever rear swingarm. The 25.2 litre tank holds a 6 litre reserve, and the R1150RT superseded the bike in 2001.
