BMW R 62

The BMW R 62 was the first touring motorcycle in the 750 cc class from the German maker BMW, and 4355 were built between 1928 and 1929. BMW began producing it in July 1928 together with the largely identical 500 cc R 52, continuing the building-block principle in which frame and gearbox were shared and the engine size and sporting or touring character came from different crankshaft strokes and from overhead-valve or side-valve cylinders. It was introduced modestly, because the new pressed-steel frame models were already on show in Berlin in November 1928. The price at launch in 1928 was 1650 Reichsmark, and in 1930 it was still listed at 1450 beside its successors. The R 11 followed it.
