The BMW R 35 was a touring motorcycle of the 350 cc class from the German maker BMW, built from 1937. BMW first showed it to the public at the German automobile show in Berlin on 20 February 1937. It took over the crankcase of the R 4 and a cylinder head like that of the R 3, and it was the last BMW with a pressed-steel double-loop frame and no rear suspension, with an undamped telescopic fork at the front. Developed with authorities, police and above all the military in mind, it was tough and reliable and served the army as a solo machine. Production began in Munich in 1937, moved to the Eisenach plant in the war, and the original run ended in 1940 because it no longer met military requirements.
