BMW R 1150 RS

The BMW R 1150 RS is a sporty touring motorcycle from the Bayerische Motorenwerke with the typical two cylinder boxer engine. It replaced the R 1100 RS with the 2001 model year and changed little visually apart from new paint schemes. Output rose slightly from 66 to 70 kilowatts, or from 90 to 95 horsepower, and displacement from 1,085 to 1,130 cubic centimetres. The air and oil cooled engine has two inlet and two outlet valves per cylinder, electronic manifold injection, digital engine management and a regulated three way catalytic converter, and models from 2002 have twin spark ignition. The RS takes over the brake technology of the R 1150 RT, an integral ABS that on the RS is the part integral version, where the hand lever brakes both wheels and the foot pedal only the rear. The drive goes through a six speed gearbox whose top gear is an overdrive and a shaft with Paralever, and the front wheel is guided by a Telelever. Suspension at both ends can be adjusted individually, and seat height, handlebar position and windscreen can be changed. Sister models with a largely identical engine are the R 1150 R, the R 1150 RT and the R 1150 GS and Adventure.
