BMW K 1200 S

The BMW K 1200 S is a fully faired sport touring motorcycle from the German maker BMW, presented in July 2004 and sold from the early summer of 2005. Until the end of 2008 it was the most powerful production motorcycle built in Germany. Its newly developed water cooled four cylinder engine of 1,157 cubic centimetres is mounted across the frame and tilted far forward, and it makes 123 kilowatts. The chassis was an entirely new design with the Duolever front suspension, used for the first time on a series motorcycle, and a single sided rear swingarm with Paralever. The S in the name stands for sport and the factory code is K40. Sales were planned for September 2004 but were postponed because of quality problems at the plant, and production ended in August 2008 in favour of the K 1300 S. Sister models include the K 1200 R and the K 1200 GT.
