BMW K 1100 RS

The BMW K 1100 RS is a fully faired motorcycle from BMW that was offered from September 1992 to 1996. The long-distance sport tourer is technically almost identical to the equally powerful K 100 RS 16V and allows both sporty and moderate riding. A total of 12,179 were made at the BMW plant in Berlin-Spandau. Its 1100 cc in-line engine is a development of the lying four-cylinder engine of the K 100, with the displacement raised by about ten percent by boring out the cylinders. In the spirit of the motorcycle industry's voluntary restraint in Germany in the 1990s, peak power of the four-valve engine was limited to 100 horsepower, and most delivered examples were throttled to 72 kilowatts for insurance reasons.
