BMW K 100 LT

The BMW K 100 LT is a luxury touring motorcycle, the tourer of the K 100 series, built from 1986 to 1991 at the BMW plant in Berlin-Spandau, 14,899 units in all. On top of the equipment of the K 100 RT, with its large fairing and luggage system, the LT added a comfort seat, a top case and pannier lids painted in the colour of the bike. It was built beside the RT at first but replaced it in 1989, and its successor in 1991 was the K 1100 LT. The water-cooled four-cylinder four-stroke engine of 987 cc, mounted lengthways, gives 66 kW (90 PS) and 86 Nm at 6,000 rpm with Bosch LE-Jetronic multipoint injection and electronic ignition; drive goes through a dry single-plate clutch, a five-speed gearbox and a shaft to a Monolever single-sided swingarm. It has two front discs and one rear disc of 285 mm, with anti-lock brakes optional from 1988 for 1,980 marks, and a 22 litre tank. The kerb weight is 283 kg, it reaches 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and 209 km/h, and it cost 18,530 marks in 1986.
