The Vincent Black Shadow is a British motorcycle built by Vincent HRD in Stevenage from 1948 into the early 1950s, powered by a 998cc air cooled V twin engine. It was sold as the fastest standard production motorcycle in the world at the time, with a speedometer marked to 150 miles per hour, and riders demonstrated speeds close to that figure at events such as the Bonneville Salt Flats. Its reputation for speed and its distinctive black cased engine made it one of the most celebrated motorcycles of the immediate postwar era.
