The Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion, company model S-80, is a heavy-lift helicopter built by Sikorsky Aircraft for the US Marine Corps. It developed from the CH-53 Sea Stallion by adding a third engine, a seventh main rotor blade and a tail rotor canted 20 degrees. The YCH-53E first flew in 1974, the type entered service in 1981 and it is planned to serve into the 2030s. It is one of the largest military helicopters in service and operates from Navy ships or from land. The Navy flies the related MH-53E Sea Dragon for mine countermeasures and heavy lift, and the CH-53K King Stallion is set to replace the CH-53E.
