Mitsubishi H-60

Lighter-Than-Air Craft and Rotorcraft

The Mitsubishi H-60 is the family of Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk and SH-60 Seahawk derivatives built under licence in Japan by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the Japan Self-Defense Forces. The SH-60J, SH-60K and SH-60L are anti-submarine patrol versions for the Maritime Self-Defense Force, the UH-60J is a search and rescue version for the Air and Maritime Self-Defense Forces, and the UH-60JA is a utility version for the Ground Self-Defense Force. The SH-60J was chosen to succeed the Mitsubishi HSS-2B Sea King and carries a Japanese-developed mission system, a dipping sonar and Japanese avionics, with deliveries beginning in August 1991. Its GE and IHI T700 turboshaft engines are built under licence by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries. The improved SH-60K was first delivered in August 2005, and the further upgrade SH-60L began deliveries in 2022.
