Bell FCX-001

Lighter-Than-Air Craft and Rotorcraft

The Bell FCX-001 is a concept helicopter design proposed by Bell Helicopter of the United States. It was first shown to the public as a mock-up at Heli-Expo 2017 in Dallas on March 7, 2017. The mock-up was configured for eight passengers but was described as able to accommodate up to twelve, and its airframe was slightly bigger than that of a Bell 412. Its most distinctive feature was a set of five morphing main rotor blades whose tips were intended to move between different flight regimes, with the aim of maximizing efficiency and performance while reducing noise. The FCX-001 remains a conceptual design presented to show where Bell saw future helicopter technology heading.
