The Bell 505 Jet Ranger X is an American and Canadian light single-engine helicopter developed and manufactured by Bell Helicopter. Bell unveiled it at the 2013 Paris Airshow as the Bell SLS, for Short Light Single, and announced the 505 designation at Heli-Expo in February 2014. The first flight took place on 11 November 2014 and Transport Canada certified it in December 2016. It carries one pilot and four passengers and is used for personal travel, sightseeing, law enforcement and student training. Main production started in 2016 in a new facility at Lafayette, Louisiana, but Bell announced that year that it would move 505 production to its Mirabel, Quebec center, and about 500 had been sold by 2023.
