The Bell 400 TwinRanger was a prototype four-blade, twin-engine civil helicopter that Bell Helicopter developed in the 1980s as a twin-engine development of the 206L LongRanger, together with a planned Bell 440. It had a reprofiled fuselage, two Allison 250 turboshafts and the four-blade main rotor of the OH-58D Kiowa. The Bell 400 first flew on 4 April 1984. A single-engine Bell 400A was also planned, but its development was cancelled when Bell could not get enough orders, and Bell suspended the 400 and 440 family in the late 1980s because it could not reach a profitable production rate of 120 units a year. The TwinRanger name was later used for the twin-engine 206LT, of which 13 were built between 1994 and 1997.
