The Westland Sea King, formally the Westland WS-61, is a British helicopter built under license from Sikorsky's SH-3 Sea King, first flown by Westland at Yeovil in May 1969. Built for anti submarine warfare, search and rescue and troop transport, it was also adapted as a ship based airborne early warning platform, and it served the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force for decades.
