The USS Macon is an Akron class rigid airship built by the Goodyear-Zeppelin Corporation and commissioned into the United States Navy in June 1933. Designed as a flying aircraft carrier, it carried up to five Curtiss F9C Sparrowhawk biplane fighters that it could launch and recover in flight for scouting, and it was lost in February 1935 when storm damage caused it to crash off the coast of Big Sur, California.
