The Mil Mi-8 is a family of medium twin turbine helicopters developed in the Soviet Union, first flown in July 1961 and entering Soviet air force service in 1967, built at the Kazan and Ulan-Ude helicopter plants. It is the most produced helicopter in history, with more than seventeen thousand built and used by more than fifty countries in military and civilian roles alike.
