The Goodyear Blimp is the fleet of non-rigid and semi-rigid airships operated by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, a lighter-than-air tradition the company began with its first commercial airship, the Pilgrim, in 1925, after decades of building airships for the United States Navy. Rather than carrying passengers commercially, the airships are used chiefly for advertising and for providing aerial television coverage of live sporting events, latterly using onboard LED display technology to render animated messages on the envelope itself.
