The Piper PA-18 Super Cub is a two seat, single engine monoplane that Piper Aircraft introduced in 1949 as a more powerful successor to the earlier Piper Cub. Renowned for its ability to take off and land in very short distances, it became a favorite for bush flying, banner towing and glider towing, and fitted with oversized bush wheels it remains prized for operating from unimproved backcountry airstrips; more than ten thousand were built across nearly forty years of production.
