The ICON A5 is an American two-seat amphibious light-sport aircraft built by ICON Aircraft, entering deliveries in 2016 and designed specifically for recreational flying rather than utility or business transport, marketed toward pilots new to aviation as an accessible introduction to flying from both land and water. Built with folding wings that let an owner tow and store the aircraft like a boat trailer rather than requiring a hangar, and certified under the United States light-sport aircraft category with a simplified pilot licensing pathway, the A5 was developed with extensive input from the recreational vehicle and automotive design industries to appeal to buyers outside the traditional general aviation pilot community.
