Cirrus Vision SF50

The Cirrus Vision SF50 is an American single-engine light business jet built by Cirrus Aircraft, entering service in 2016 as the first single-engine civil jet certified by the United States Federal Aviation Administration, developed to extend Cirrus's existing line of piston general aviation aircraft into jet-powered flight. Built with its single turbofan engine mounted above and behind the cabin on the upper rear fuselage, an unusual placement chosen to keep the cabin quieter and the aircraft controllable with a single engine, the Vision SF50 also carries Cirrus's signature whole-airframe parachute recovery system, standard across the company's piston aircraft, adapted for a jet for the first time. Its combination of jet performance and a considerably lower price than competing business jets made it a commercial success among owner-pilots stepping up from piston aircraft.
