Dornier Do 30

The Dornier Do 30 was a short take-off and landing transport aircraft that Dornier offered to the German armed forces in 1960, building on the experience of the Do 29. It was meant as a cargo and troop carrier for up to 30 men or 24 paratroopers, as an air ambulance for 18 stretcher cases, for air supply by pallet drop, and in civil use as a feeder airliner for 28 passengers or a freight and business aircraft. Unlike the Do 29 its propellers were not tilting but forward-facing tractor propellers. It was a shoulder-wing monoplane with a rectangular wing, fixed slat and double-slotted flaps, with two propeller turbines on short pylons under the wings joined by shafts, and a rear ramp for the freight version. When the armed forces ordered the vertical take-off Do 31 instead, Dornier shelved and finally dropped the project, and only a radio-controlled model was built and tested.
