The Piper PA-36 Pawnee Brave is a single-engined, low-wing agricultural aircraft built by Piper Aircraft in the 1970s. It was announced in 1972 as a more powerful development of the PA-25 Pawnee, with a 285 horsepower Continental Tiara engine, a new wing with removable leading edges, anti-sloshing foam in the fuel tanks and a larger chemical hopper of 30 cubic feet, and it entered service in 1973. A 300 horsepower Lycoming version followed in 1977 as the Brave 300, and in 1978 a 375 horsepower Lycoming IO-720 version, the Brave 375, was added. In 1981 Piper sold the design rights to WTA Incorporated, which marketed the New Brave 375 and New Brave 400 from 1982 and built 150 of them by 1987. In October 1997 the rights passed to The New Piper Aircraft.
