Piper J-4 Cub Coupe

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Piper J-4 Cub Coupe is a two-place, side-by-side version of the Piper J-3 Cub that Piper built from 1938 to 1942, and it was the first Piper model with side-by-side seating. Its fuselage was wider than the J-3 and had a fully enclosed rear decking. The first J-4s had a 50 horsepower Continental A50, and the 1940 J-4A gained a fully enclosed cowling and a 65 horsepower A65 engine. The J-4B used a 60 horsepower Franklin and the final 1941 J-4E a 75 horsepower Continental with a redesigned interior. Civil aircraft production stopped when the United States entered the Second World War.
