The Piper PA-38 Tomahawk is a two seat, fixed tricycle gear light aircraft that Piper Aircraft introduced in 1978, aimed at the flight training market alongside touring and personal use. Its deliberately responsive handling was intended to teach stall and spin awareness more directly than older trainers, and for years it served as a common first aircraft for student pilots at flight schools in the United States and abroad.
